Raju, Hindu male aged 70, was admitted to hospital on the afternoon of the 19th April, 1922, suffering from extreme emaciation, inability to take food, and an offensive and purulent discharge from the mouth. The patient had suffered from this trouble for 12 years and had been in the habit of having the swelling punctured by a barber when it increased in size. Twelve days prior to his admission to hospital, the swelling had increased to such a size, that the intake of even fluids was difficult.
